I qualified as a chartered accountant, but gave that career up to work for McDonald’s in 2011, working with my dad.

My connection with McDonald’s

McDonald’s has been a key part of my life. My dad was a Franchisee before me and I remember the day he opened his first restaurant in 1999. I became a Crew Member and worked there through school and university. Leaving my accountancy career behind, I returned to working with my dad and helped him grow his business from one restaurant to five.

What inspired me to become a McDonald’s Franchisee

Following in my dad’s Franchising footsteps was a key motivator. I’ve seen the hard work that’s required but I’ve also seen the energy and excitement involved in developing restaurant teams and engaging with customers on a daily basis. After buying one of my dad’s restaurants, it’s fair to say there’s a healthy competition between us!

Becoming a McDonald’s Franchisee is the perfect blend of being part of a cutting edge global brand while enjoying the rewards of running your own business. Today’s restaurants are unrecognisable from those of five years ago, let alone when I was a child.
