We care about the well-being of children and families. So back in 1974, we helped Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) open the first Ronald McDonald House® for families with sick children. To this day, we stand by RMHC in their commitment to ensure families with sick children can always stay close to each other and the care and resources they need. In our restaurants, we help support the work of RMHC and its 260+ local Chapters both in your neighborhoods and in communities around the world.

Every time you buy a Happy Meal®, we donate two cents to support RMHC programs and services, including Ronald McDonald House^®, Ronald McDonald Family Room^® and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®.*

*January 1, 2021 – December 31, 2021, McDonald’s will donate two cents to Ronald McDonald House Charities for each Happy Meal sold at participating U.S. restaurants.

A comfortable place for families with sick children to stay, near the hospital, complete with home-cooked meals, private bedrooms and playrooms for siblings. There are currently over 184 Ronald McDonald House programs in the U.S.

A space within the hospital for caretakers to rest, recharge and regroup, near their sick child’s room. There are currently over 145 Ronald McDonald Family Room programs in the U.S.

A mobile unit that brings medical, dental and health care resources to under-served communities. There are currently over 36 Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs in the U.S.

Every time you visit McDonald’s, you can support RMHC by choosing to Round-Up for RMHC when you place your order on the kiosk or ask the crew to Round-Up your order to the nearest dollar. You may also drop spare change in any of the RMHC Donation Boxes in restaurants or drive-thru. Both fundraising programs are available 365-days-per-year in most U.S. restaurants.

In 2019, our U.S. customers donated over $27 million to support RMHC families through restaurant facilitated fundraisers. It takes about $100 to host one family at Ronald McDonald House each night. Through your generosity, RMHC could provide about 270,000 overnight stays to families with sick children.
