The environment and sustainability have always been important to McDonald’s UAE, and Emirates Environmental Group is a reputable and passionate leader in addressing environmental issues in the UAE that McDonald’s UAE has been proud to support for over two decades.
Together McDonald’s UAE has worked closely with Emirates Environmental Group to launch and support the “Planting a Greener Future” program in 2014 that has a robust-yet-realistic ambition in line the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda’s Sustainable Environment and Infrastructure goals.
As part of the initiative, to date, students from 18 schools across the UAE planted 960 indigenous trees covering a total area of 9,000 sq-m. Since its launch, the ‘Planting a Greener Future’ campaign has reduced CO2 levels by 5.68 metric tons. As part of its involvement McDonald’s UAE has both sponsored and participated in a number of positive-change activities including Clean Up UAE, Can Collection, Clean Up the World and its International Public Speaking event. The initiative is now in its 3rd phase and aims to raise awareness amongst the student community about the importance of the environment and actively encourage them to take ownership of its preservation.
McDonald’s UAE is committed to supporting Emirates Environmental Group, working together to not only build on the success of the program but to help educate and empower the next generation to become champions of sustainability.
