RMHC Canada

Families are at the heart of who we are and what we do at McDonald’s Canada.

RMHC Keeps Families Close

In Canada, 65% of Canadians live outside a city with a children’s hospital. So when a child gets sick and needs to be hospitalized, families often have to travel hundreds of kilometers for the treatment and support their child needs. A difficult and unexpected journey.

At Ronald McDonald Houses and Family Rooms, families are given a caring place to stay close while their child is being treated at the nearby hospital. With bedrooms, kitchens, quiet spaces to be together and a loving and supportive atmosphere, RMHC truly becomes a home away from home for our families.

“RMHC Toronto is so welcoming. I would’ve had to stay in Olek’s hospital room, and my husband and daughter would’ve been four hours away, driving back and forth from home. I can’t even imagine.”

What We Do

McDonald’s played a founding role in opening the first Ronald McDonald House in Canada in 1981. Since then, 425,000 families have been supported by RMHC programs across Canada.

Ronald McDonald Houses

The 16 Ronald McDonald Houses coast-to-coast provide families with a home to stay at while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital. Complete with bedrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms, our Houses are an oasis of support for families during this difficult time.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms

Seventeen Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Canadian hospitals provide a comfortable place for families to rest and recharge, right inside the hospital.
