Our ambition is to achieve net zero emissions across our restaurants, operations and supply chains (scopes 1,2,3) in Ireland and the UK by 2040. This will be in alignment with the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi) net zero criteria and a 1.5°C climate scenario pathway.

We’re now developing a roadmap for our significant decarbonisation journey and our commitment to neutralise any remaining emissions.

We’re going to start where we can make changes fastest: with our restaurants and offices, aiming for net zero emissions across all of them – old and new – by 2030. 

At the same time, we are working with our suppliers to reduce emissions right across our supply chains, in line with the 1.5°C scenario, by 2030. We will continue to reduce and then neutralise any remaining emissions to achieve net zero for our entire business by 2040. This includes helping farmers to adopt new technology and techniques to ensure their farms use less energy and water and that they are working to promote healthy soil and protect forests.

We are working with the global McDonald’s system to ensure we are aligned in meeting the Science-Based Targets  that we are committed to with SBTi. This will enable us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint by 2030 as part of our journey to achieving net zero emissions by 2040.
