Helping families stay close since 1974.

We care about the well-being of children and families. So back in 1974, we helped Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) open the first Ronald McDonald House® for families with sick children. To this day, we stand by RMHC in their commitment to ensure families with sick children can always stay close to each other and the care and resources they need. In our restaurants, we help support the work of RMHC and its 260+ local Chapters both in your neighborhoods and in communities around the world.

Every cent counts.

Every time you buy a Happy Meal®, we donate one cent to support RMHC programs and services, including Ronald McDonald House®, Ronald McDonald Family Room® and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®.*

*January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023, McDonald’s will donate one cent to Ronald McDonald House Charities for each Happy Meal sold at participating U.S. restaurants.

Ronald McDonald House®

A comfortable space for families who must travel far from home for their child’s medical care, located near the hospital, complete with home-cooked meals, private bedrooms and the support of staff and other families. There are currently 380+ Ronald McDonald House programs worldwide.

Ronald McDonald Family Room®

A space inside the hospital for caretakers to rest, recharge and regroup, near their child’s hospital room. There are currently 265+ Ronald McDonald Family Room programs worldwide.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®

A mobile unit that brings medical, dental and health care resources to under-served communities. There are currently 40 Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs worldwide.

How you can help RMHC families

Every time you visit McDonald’s, you can support RMHC by choosing to Round-Up for RMHC when you place your order on the kiosk or ask the crew to Round-Up your order to the nearest dollar. You may also drop spare change in any of the RMHC Donation Boxes in restaurants or drive-thru. Both fundraising programs are available 365-days-per-year in most U.S. restaurants.

In 2021, our U.S. customers alone donated over $50 million through restaurant facilitated fundraisers to support RMHC families. Through your generosity, RMHC could provide 500,000 overnight stays to families with hospitalized children.
